What is Philosophy of Education
When a thinker thinks about the educational problems and forwards his opinion about the same, he becomes a ‘philosopher’. It means that whenever a philosophical thinking is executed in the educational issues and concepts; and philosophical method is adopted ‘educational philosophy’ or “philosophy of education” comes into existence. It is obvious that when the general philosophies like idealism and realism are followed in the educational system, so the same, after having dived in the lake of education, shall be changed into the form of ‘educational philosophies’. It has been happening in this way. Though the name of philosophy is not the same but its nature remains the same. You will see that an idealist philosopher having gone into the field of education still remains by nature an idealist. Even at this stage he cares about educational theories instead of educational process and learning activities. He shows no interest in field of life. He continuously remains busy in preparation and guidance of teachers and students. He also works for their broadening and improvement. However, he should come with educational problems and their analysis. Similarly, each thinker of a philosophical thought establishes his certain way of thinking and action. The educational traditions, affairs as well as issue are critically analyzed by the philosopher. He, after careful pursuit, brings into public, the assumptions on which its foundations lie. It, therefore, analyses the same properly and expresses its viewpoint.
